The Diet Fight
Is losing weight an unfair fight? Most of the people who try and lose weight usually fail in the short term and those who get passed that usually fumble in the long run as well. Did you know that 95% of people who attempt diets end up in failure. So let’s be honest with ourselves, losing weight is an unfair fight and definitely not curable in the short run. No matter what people or products promise these FAD diets never end up working. But why? Are we not strong enough to win the fight? Or is it the fight is too strong for us to win?
First of all, the opponent you are challenging is EVERYWHERE! You cannot hide from this enemy and you have to constantly face this enemy wherever you go and not only that, you feel this enemy within you. Wherever you go in public you are exposed to the sight and smell of fast food chains and if you decide to stay at home you are haunted by the delicious TV adverts. The temptation to eat unhealthy is EVERYWHERE!
Every time you eat something you promised yourself not to, it feels like your enemy got in a punch, knocking your confidence out cold. The next time you attempt another diet the same story happens and you find yourself on the floor beaten. You will know if you DO get into proper fights and constantly lose you’ll find you won’t want to fight anymore therefore in your case, you won’t want to diet any more. So what is the solution? What can you do with such a fierce opponent, what can you do to burn calories and keep them burned? First of all you need to understand your opponent and then understand yourself before you can achieve any kind of victory.
Eating too many fast foods must not be viewed as a minor problem, but as an addiction problem. Why? Cause it is. How do people deal with addiction? Get professional help or find a reason, an encouraging goal to turn your bad habits into great habits. You must ALWAYS have a goal or you won’t score a goal. You must remind yourself of who you are and what you want to become and never lose focus, just like a fighter! You must create and discover your goal from within yourself before you can ever take action on the outside, you must prepare yourself, just like a fighter!
The first step you must do is cut out a picture of your head and put it on the body you want right next to your bed so EVERYTIME you wake up or got to sleep you can remind yourself of what you want to look like. The next step is to create a list of what you going to do with this perfect body and place it on your refrigerator replacing all those magnetic fast food menus. The 3rd step is to encourage yourself and place little notes all over the house to motivate yourself. (i.e. YOUR DOING GREAT or KEEP IT UP) The 4th step is to think positive thoughts and not dwell on negative thoughts thinking that this won’t work and life is unfair and so on. Life is about hard work and determination to accomplishing your goal, there’s no easy way out. 5th and most important step is to REWARD yourself. Everyday you eat healthy or exercise go and buy a magazine, make a bubble bath, go out and watch a movie, find what ever it is to make your day a happy day and remember you don’t need junk food to make you happy, you need it to survive.
